Troubleshooting
This page covers common issues and their solutions when using Steam Game Idler.
Always check the FAQ section first, as many common questions are answered there
Preliminary Checks
Check System Requirements
- Windows 10/11 or Linux (64-bit)
- Internet connection
- Steam client installed and running (only required if you use Legacy Sign-in, which is Windows-only — Linux supports Steam Sign-in only)
Verify Your Sign-In
- If using Steam Sign-in, make sure you completed any Steam Guard prompt fully
- If using Legacy Sign-in, make sure the Steam client is running and you're signed in to at least one account
- Your Steam profile is set to public (required for some features regardless of sign-in method)
Check SGI Installation
- SGI is installed in the default location
- You're running the latest version
- Windows Defender/antivirus isn't blocking SGI
